Predation 1 Grazers reproduce at a faster rate than predators. Predator population remains near stable as reproduction is offset by starvation and also predation. Grazer populations multiply and crash. After the crash, the predators initially survive on dead grazers, but then may hold down grazer populations, allowing plants to multiply. This is likely if the predator population is well dispersed. If grazer and predator populations fall too low, the likelihood is that either the predators kill all the grazers, or predators die out unable to find scarce grazers. |
